Governor Jay Inslee announced that suspends the application of the death penalty in the state of Washington, in a move expected to allow the authorities to “bend to a growing national debate about capital punishment.”

The Democrat said he made the decision after months of studies, meetings with victims’ families, prosecutors and police.
