The Aircraft Manufacturer Embraer Quarterly Profit Quadruples

April 30 (Reuters). The aircraft manufacturer Embraer raised its earnings up 319% in the first quarter compared with the same period last year, and posted a net profit of 262.8 million reais ( about 118 million dollars), reported the Brazilian company.

Net turnover amounted to 2928.8 million reais (about $ 1.317 billion), an increase of 35.8%, which was a result of the delivery of fourteen commercial and 20 executive aircraft segment, according to a statement.

The company said that revenue from its security and defense segment increased by 87% over the first quarter last year, to 931.4 million reais (approximately 419 million dollars).

Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization, as measured by the indicator box Ebitda, rose by 76.6% and amounted to 354.7 million reais ($ 159 million).

The backlog of firm orders ended the first quarter at $ 19,200 million, its highest level since June 2009, mainly due to the expansion of sales in the segment of commercial aviation. EFE
