A man survived Saturday after falling onto the tracks in front of a subway train in New York City, to get into the deepest part between the rails, while the meter was wrong above.
Police said Ralph Mercado was hospitalized and his condition was stable, having suffered only a bump on the hand after the chilling incident at the Union Station subway station in Manhattan.
Witnesses to the incident said that after falling, Market shouted for help as the train was about to run him over. Suzannah Troy told the New York Post that there was not enough time for the people waiting on the platform it could assistant.
Police do not know exactly how it was that market, more than 50 years; fell against the R line train northbound.
